FRMC Charlie’s Chaplains' Skool is infamous for serving up a packed-to-the-max exceptional day of learning, artistic fun and fellowship! Entertaining through creative ministry arts is explored each Skool through varied presentations led by stellar professionals and community volunteers who come to share their passions. The result is better equipped and prepared performers through a well-reounded ongoing education program, supported by the FRMC Pastoral Care Department, in Hickory, NC.
Each Skool has a special "theme" which is carried throughout the entire program. This hospital creative ministry training day focuses on clown arts, featuring varied creative ministry arts. Sessions are presented for all ranges of experience, taught simultaneously on multiple levels in separate classrooms.
Our unique program is not dealer-driven, although we do offer supplies for sale in our Charlie's Marketplace throughout the day. This means the major part of the instruction focuses on technique (versus a new gadget for a student to purchase at Skool) and adaptations for various situations. Skool subjects are selected based on perceived need.
Charlie’s Chaplains’ Creative Ministry Skool sessions are open to the public and others in the industry, to encourage more hospital clown groups. Charlie’s Chaplains views training as essential in order to equip our members to do their important work. Each Skool is designed based on the perceived needs of our group at the time of planning. While as all-encompassing in nature to include as many areas of clown and entertaining arts as possible in a day-long format, sessions are taught on multiple levels of experience in separate classrooms. The concept of Skool is kept simple: we do not view clowning as rocket science.
We have been offering our now-infamous Charlie's Chaplains Skools in Hickory, NC since February, 2004.

Charlie’s Chaplains’ Skool has trained folks from other area hospitals and ministries, in addition to out-of-state students.
Applicable “shared components” for those in other healthcare settings depend upon the varied situations in which the students are serving (according to individual institution or entity and the established protocol), once returning from Skool.
